Some say Product Manager has to work 50+ hours/week.

This can affect your family and mental health. Is it really a job you would like to break into?

Luckily, it doesn't have to be the case.

Before we dive in, I spent 8 years in product. Talked, advised, and observed hundreds of other PMs.

As a rule of thumb, if you have 1-2 teams, anything above 35-40+ hours should be a warning sign.

Some might be skeptical. So perhaps I should start by saying that in the most intensive period, I worked 520+ overhours in a year.

But at some point, I understood I wasn't effective.
